Rules for Pets at Fort Parker State Park

Pet Restrictions

Pets are allowed in many areas of the park, including RV and tent campsites and trails. They must be on a leash, in a car, or in a crate at all times, and must not be left unattended. Read more state parks pet rules.

Pets are not allowed in or around screened shelters, cabins or the Group Barracks area. Please leave pets at home if you are staying in any of these areas. Pets may not be crated or tied up outside and cannot be left in your vehicle. Pets are not allowed in any of the buildings at Fort Parker.

Pet “accidents” make cleaning unpleasant and sanitation difficult. Pets can also damage park facilities.

Service Animals

Only service animals may enter the screened shelter, cabin or Group Barracks area or buildings.

Service animals are defined as domestic animals that are trained to do work or perform specific tasks for people with disabilities.

Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act and are not allowed in these areas and facilities.
