We are committed to making our facilities and our information available to as many Texans as possible.
Visiting parks

Many parks have some accessible features, including restrooms, campsites, trails and visitor centers. Find information on specific parks on our Accessible Facilities page.

- Service animals are allowed in Texas state parks and buildings.
- Visitors with disabilities may qualify for a Parklands Passport, which discounts park entrance fees.
- We also offer wheelchair-friendly and online events.
Accessible features
Accessible features at Texas State Parks include:
- Parking: Designated parking spaces are available for visitors with a disabled parking placard or plate in most parks.
- Trails: Some parks offer trails that are typically flat, wide and smooth to allow for easy navigation. Some parks loan all-terrain or beach wheelchairs for use in the park.
- Campsites: Many parks offer accessible campsites with features such as level ground, picnic tables with extended tops, ramps, and easy access to restrooms.
- Cabins: Some parks offer accessible cabins with ramps, wider doorways, and accessible bathrooms.
- Fishing: Some parks offer accessible fishing locations including accessible docks and piers. Learn more about adaptive fishing, a fishing style tailored for individuals with disabilities.
- Restrooms: Many parks have accessible restrooms that are equipped with grab bars.
- Showers: Many parks have accessible showers with sitting benches or chairs, grab bars, handheld shower heads and/or accessible shower heads.
- Picnic Areas: Many parks offer picnic areas with tables designed for wheelchair users.
- Visitor Centers: Many visitor centers have ramps and wide doorways; some have accessible exhibits.
Loaner chairs
Multiple parks have assistive chairs available for loan. These chairs can handle rougher terrain than traditional wheelchairs. Learn more about these assistive chairs and see the complete list of parks with the chairs.
