Summer Fun
Spend your summer in Texas State Parks! Come for the cool waters and group areas. Stay for the early-morning special events, guided tours and more. Here are a few of the season's top activities and programs:
Swim
Temperatures are going up! Cool off (and please stay safe) in and around the water at dozens of refreshing state parks.
Canoe and Kayak
Experience a closer look at nature, wildlife and more incredible outdoor scenery. Paddle your way to summer fun!
Fish For Free
Fishing is easier when you can try it for free, without a license. Catch and release, catch and keep (within the rules), learn new skills or just have fun with friends and family!
Relax in Cool Comfort
Anyone who visits during summer spends at least a few moments wishing they had a place to go indoors. Some people don't want to sleep in a tent. Others are just curious to know more about their options. Would you believe there are rooms like these available? If you need air conditioning, or even if you just want a roof over your head, your state parks can accommodate. Please note that popular sites fill many months in advance, so book your reservations as soon as you can!
Bring the Kids
Family-friendliness is in our nature at every state park, but certain activities and programs stand out this summer, like the Junior Ranger Program which gives kids tools they can use to explore nature. Also, all kids 12 and younger get into state parks for free!
