FISH-1 - Restricted River Stretch Prohibitions
This protocol establishes prohibited areas for all Scientific Research Permit activities regardless of target species or methodology. Permit holders must consult current maps, GPS coordinates and species distribution data to ensure compliance with these restrictions.

Protocol Requirements
Prohibited Areas
- Condition FISH-1.1
Permit holders shall not conduct any permitted research activities in the following aquatic areas:- Leon Creek and Diamond Y Preserve in Pecos County
- Springs and canals in Reeves County
- Devils River and Dolan Creek in Val Verde County
- Salt Creek in Culberson and Reeves County
- San Marcos River upstream of its confluence with the Blanco River in Hays County
- Comal River in Comal County
- Clear Creek in Menard County
- San Felipe Creek in Val Verde County
- Big Bend Gambusia ponds in Big Bend National Park
- River stretches with Peppered Chub, Arkansas River Shiner, Smalleye Shiner and Sharpnose Shiner populations
- Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Angelina, Nacogdoches, Sabine, Jasper and San Augustine Counties

Permit holders shall verify that all proposed research locations are outside the restricted aquatic areas listed in Condition FISH-1.1 before conducting any permitted activities. - Condition FISH-1.3
Permit holders shall immediately cease all activities and contact TPWD if they discover they have inadvertently entered a restricted aquatic area during permitted activities. - Condition FISH-1.4
Permit holders may conduct activities in restricted aquatic areas listed in Condition FISH-1.1 only if the specific aquatic area is explicitly authorized on their permit and identified by name in the permit conditions.
