Action
Acceptance of Land Transfer - Williamson County
Twin Lakes County Park
May 2008

I. Executive Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has been offered 6.18 acres of land representing an inholding at Twin Lakes County Park.

II. Discussion: Twin Lakes Park is a 50-acre park operated and maintained by Williamson County. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquired jurisdiction of the 50 acres from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in accordance with Section 4, Subdivision (e), Chapter 2, of the 70th Legislature-Second Called Session in 1987. The intent of the Legislature was to provide parkland to be leased to Williamson County by TPWD.

TxDOT has offered to transfer an additional 6.18 acres to TPWD at no cost representing an inholding at the Twin Lakes Park site. This additional acreage will be leased to Williamson County to be used as parkland.

III. Recommendation: The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to accept from the Texas Department of Transportation the transfer of 6.18 acres in Williamson County, to be leased to Williamson County Parks and Recreation."
