Land Acquisition - El Paso County
1673.5 Acres from the El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board as an Addition to Franklin Mountains State Park

I. Executive Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has been offered an acquisition of 1673.5 acres as an addition to Franklin Mountains State Park.
II. Discussion: The El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board (PSB) has offered to sell TPWD a 1673.5 acre tract of land (tract) adjacent to Franklin Mountains State Park (Park). This tract will provide a buffer between the park and pending development. This acquisition was mandated acquisition by legislation enacted by the 80th Texas Legislature (2007).
III. Recommendation: The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:
"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to acquire a 1673.5 acre tract as an addition to Franklin Mountains State Park."
