Land Donation – Palo Pinto County
Palo Pinto Mountains State Park
May 22, 2014

I.       Executive Summary:  Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has been offered the donation of approximately 120 acres of land as an addition to the Palo Pinto State Park (Park).

II.          Discussion:   The City of Strawn, Texas has offered Texas Parks and Wildlife Department a donation of approximate 120 acre tract (tract) of land that surrounds Tucker Lake and is an inholding within the boundaries of Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. This donation will not include the body of Tucker Lake that lies below spillway elevation.

Acceptance of this tract will add recreational value to the Park giving TPWD access to Tucker Lake.

III.    Recommendation:  The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:

“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to accept the donation of approximately 120 acres in Palo Pinto County for addition to Palo Pinto Mountains State Park.”
