Designation of Nonprofit Partners
Recommended Adoption of Proposed Changes
November 4, 2021

I.      Executive Summary:  The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is authorized to select and cooperate with nonprofit partners to serve TPWD’s goals as set forth in Texas Parks and Wildlife Code chapter 11, subchapter J.  With this item, the staff seeks to present a proposed list of nonprofit entities to be designated as nonprofit partners by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (Commission).

II.     Discussion:  Under 31 Texas Administrative Code sections 51.161 and 51.162, certain nonprofit entities may be designated as nonprofit partners of TPWD.  
These include organizations that exist primarily for the purpose of a specific TPWD property, facility, or program.  In addition, one Official Nonprofit Partner may be designated to support the overall mission and goals of the agency. Exhibit A provides the list of organizations, including the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation as the Official Nonprofit Partner, proposed for designation as the current nonprofit partners of TPWD.

III.   Recommendation: The staff recommends that the Commission adopt the following motion:

“The entities listed in Exhibit A are designated as nonprofit partners of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.”
