State Parks Centennial

I.      Executive Summary: Texas State Parks Director Rodney Franklin will introduce Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation (TPWF) Centennial Coordinator Ky Harkey to brief the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission about the Foundation’s partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to celebrate 100 years of Texas State Parks.

II.     Discussion: For more than three years, TPWF has been working hand in glove with TPWD staff in the State Parks and Communications Divisions to develop and execute a comprehensive plan to celebrate the 2023 Texas State Parks Centennial.

Goals of the plan are to engage all Texans in the celebration; amplify partnerships that support state parks; invest in much-needed park projects through a TPWF fundraising campaign; and honor the past while looking ahead to the next 100 years.

TPWF is leveraging relationships with key partners to support the Centennial celebration, including H-E-B, Toyota, and Texas Monthly, along with many others.

The result has been a sustained and focused effort that is raising awareness of the role Texas State Parks play in the lives of Texas citizens and visitors.
