Personnel Matters – Executive Director Compensation

I. Executive Summary:

Staff will brief the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission (Commission) on a proposed increase in the salary for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Executive Director in an amount to be determined. House Bill 1 from the 88th Texas Legislature (2023) authorizes an annual salary amount up to $299,813.00.

III. Recommendation:

Staff recommends that the Commission adopt the following motion:

“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approves the Resolution in Exhibit A to increase the salary for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Executive Director.”

Executive Director Compensation

In H.B. 1, Acts of the 88th Texas Legislature, 2023 (the General Appropriations Act), the Texas Legislature authorized a salary increase for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Executive Director.

In accordance with General Appropriations Act Article VI, Parks and Wildlife Department, Schedule of Exempt Positions, and Article IX, section 3.04(d), Scheduled Exempt Positions, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approves an increase to the salary of the TPWD Executive Director from $236,953.00 to $XXX annually, to be effective September 1, 2025.
