First Day Hike: Forest Trail

Start your year off right! Join us for a guided hike along the Forest Trail. Hikers receive an official First Day Hike sticker!

Meet up at Headquarters. Hike along the Forest Trail and learn about the native flora and fauna that call this area home. This guided hike will take about an hour and the trail is about 1 mile long.

When: 8:30am

Where: Walnut Slough Day-use Area located in the Walnut Ridge Unit.

Bring: Sturdy shoes as the trails are natural and uneven in places; plenty of water; sunscreen; lots of questions!

Cost: This event is free with the purchase of a $4 day pass or a Texas State Park Pass.

Reminder: There are no restrooms near the trailhead so plan accordingly. This program is weather dependent and may be canceled if conditions are unfavorable.
