Some parks and boat ramps are closed due to high water or flood damage. Check the Army Corps of Engineers and State Parks Alert Map for updates.
Eleven boat ramps, seven parks, and two private floating marinas provide plenty of lake access for water recreation. The US Army Corps of Engineers operates three parks that offer campsites with picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and showers. Most sites have shelter-tops. Electricity is extra. The Nails Creek and Birch Creek units of Lake Somerville State Park offer camping and other activities. For details, choose a point on the map or a name in the chart below.

- From Giddings go 7 miles east on US 290. Turn left on FM 180 and go 13 miles to park entrance

State Park, Birch Creek Unit
- From Somerville go approximately 3.5 miles north on Texas 36 to FM 60 on the north side of Lyons. Turn left and go 7.1 miles, turn left on Park Road 57.
- Two 2-lane ramps accommodate all boat types

Rocky Creek Park
- From Somerville go 4 miles south on Texas 36 to FM 1948. Turn right and go 5 miles to Rocky Creek Park entrance.

- $2 boat launch fee; annual permit available

Big Creek Park
- From Somerville go 3.5 miles north on Texas 36 to FM 60 north of Lyons. Turn left and travel 3.7 miles to Recreational Road 4 and turn left. Road ends at Big Creek Park

- $3 launch fee

Yegua Creek Park
- From Somerville go 4 miles South on Texas 36 to FM 1948. Turn right and go approximately 2 miles to the entrance to Yegua Creek Park

Welch Park
- From Somerville take Thornberry Road 1.5 miles to the Lake Somerville Dam. Turn right on the dam to the entrance of Welch Park

Overlook Park & Lake Somerville Marina
- From Somerville take Texas 36 South and turn right on FM 1948. Go approximately 1/4 mile and turn on the first road to the right. Marina is at end of road.
