June 24, 2024 - No wood or charcoal fires are allowed. You may use containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) for cooking.

Construction Closures

March 5, 2026 - The following areas are closed for construction:

• Entrance parking lot at the Scenic Mountain Loop trailhead
• Nature Trail parking lot and trailhead

Expect noise and occasional construction traffic on park roads.

Water Contaminant Notice

May 16, 2025 - The park uses water provided by the City of Big Spring. The city has issued a notice that its water exceeds "Maximum Containment Level" of trihalomethanes. Learn more about this contaminant on the city's website.
