Burn Ban

Oct. 7, 2025 - A burn ban is in effect. No wood or charcoal fires allowed. You may use containerized fuel stoves for cooking only. 

Flood Closures

Sept. 24, 2025 - The following areas are closed due to flood damage: 

  • A small section of the River Trail at the Dogleg Canyon intersection
  • Spicewood Springs Trail (above the swimming area)

Also, a 0.5-mile section of the main road is reduced to one lane past the Windmill Trailhead.

Follow all posted signage, barricades and directions for your safety. Ask park staff for a map showing closed areas. 

Park Closures

The park will be closed on the following dates for wildlife management activities:

  • 5 p.m. Oct. 20 to 5 p.m. Oct. 23
  • 5 p.m. Oct. 30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 2
  • 5 p.m. Nov. 17 to 5 p.m. Nov. 20
  • 5 p.m. Dec. 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7
  • 5 p.m. Jan. 12 to 5 p.m. Jan. 15, 2026

Only permitted hunters will be allowed in during these times. 

Heat Warning

May 19, 2025 - Carry plenty of water for you, your family and your pets during the hot summer months. Experts recommend one liter of water per person per hour of activity. Water spigots are available in the campground. Many of our trails are rocky and unshaded; they get very hot on summer days. 

Reservations Recommended

We highly recommend making day pass or camping reservations before visiting. Reserve online or by calling 512) 389-8900 to guarantee entry.
