Colorado Bend State Park is west of Lampasas in San Saba and Lampasas counties.

TPWD purchased part of the park in 1984, and the rest in 1987. The 5,328.3-acre park opened in 1988.

The park is on the former sites of the Gorman and Lemons ranches above Lake Buchanan.
