Briefing
TPW Education and Outreach
Program
For the New Millennium
April 2000
I. Discussion: The briefing takes a look at a new initiative to aggressively reach new audiences, particularly those within inner cities and those not engaged in Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPW) programs, philosophies or services. TPW will initially use a three-prong approach:
- Address education and
outreach at the statewide
level focusing on effective
strategies to reach new
audiences
- Begin implementation
using a regional approach,
starting with Houston
and Dallas/Ft. Worth
- Team "Outdoor Kids" (OK) with the expanding "Community Outdoor Outreach Program" (COOP) the get people hooked on the Texas Outdoors, including: a) families, individuals and mentors and b) new volunteers, sponsors and partners.
