The Crowded Skies on Texas Summer Nights

August nights are full of life. Since this is the time of year that young Mexican free-tailed bats begin to fly with their parents on nightly feeding flights, it is the best time to watch bats. Because most free-tailed females give birth to one pup each year, the population in some nursery roosts almost doubles, making for a lot more activity come dinner time. In the fall, most of these bats will migrate south for the winter, so now is the time to check them out. Below are some links to more information on bats.
