Belton
SLOW. Water stained; 87 degrees; 0.91 feet above pool. Surface temperature 86-87F. Fishing for white bass is consolidated into the first 70 minutes of light in the morning and the last 2 hours of light in the evening. Fish found on topwater have be smacking the MAL Mini recklessly, and white bass on the bottom are responding to small silver spoons fished horizontally by downrigging (#12 Pet Spoons) and by using a sawtooth method. Larger white bass and hybrid striped bass in these schools can be selected for using a larger offering like the MAL Dense with a silver body. Outside of these early/late windows, not much else is happening for white bass. Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service. Catfishing has been great. Shallow water continues to be productive for nights and early mornings. Smaller blues and trophy size can be caught in 10ft or less using live bait as well as fresh cut bait. Cedar Creek
EXCELLENT. slightly stained; 87 degrees; 0.37 feet below pool. EXCELLENT. Normal stain; 86 degrees; 0.42 feet below pool. Hybrids and white bass are good early in the morning at daylight on midlake points and drop offs along sandy flats throughout the dam area, Crappie Island, Key Ranch and the spillway humps in 13-22 feet. Cast spinners and slabs and look for schooling fish on these flats as well as deeper seawalls and shorelines. Then fish any hump in 17-25 feet throughout the lake to find fish stacked up in schools as the day heats up. Use spinnerbaits or drop a slab down to the bottom and work it fast up and down and the fish will hit it immediately. Also throwing out a slab and reeling it back with a slow retrieve is also working well. The evening bite from 5-9 p.m has also been very good. Hit up seawalls close to points in depths of 5-18 feet and cast rattle traps, spoons, slabs or sassy shads to get the hybrids to bite. The crappie bite has been getting better. Target crappie with small jigs and minnows in 5-12 feet under bridge pylons, hidden brush piles throughout the lake or under docks. Limits are being reported, although guides have been reporting conditions are improving with bigger sized fish being caught. Report by Brent Herbeck, Herbeck’s Lonestar Fishing Guide Service. There is about 12 inches of water between Arroyo Valeño to the main river channel. Catfish are excellent in 5-10 feet of water with fresh cut or live bait. Keeper catfish are in shallow timber in 3-5 feet of water with shrimp, stink bait or small shad. Alligator gar rod and reel is good with cut carp or tilapia. Bass are good in 8-20 feet of water on hard bottoms with plastic worms and crankbaits. Crappie are slow. Report by Ram Reyes, Ram Outdoors.
Fayette
GOOD. Water normal stain; 95 degrees. Bass are good early until about 8 a.m. on shallow points with square bill crankbaits and underspins. Then target bass in 15-25 feet of water with deep diving crankbaits. Bluegill are good in 3-6 feet of water on rocky banks with nightcrawlers. Please note, the warm water and the cooler rain can change the oxygen levels in the water resulting in a slight fish kill. Do not be alarmed, this is a common phenomenon for this power plant lake and typically does not affect the fishery. Report by Mark Fransen, Fransen’s Guide Service.
Fork
GOOD. Water Stained; 81 degrees; 0.11 feet below pool. Bass are slow while the moon is fuller, and fish are more active at night. Early morning has been good for about an hour or so on frogs and flukes around grass in 2-4 feet. Switching to an offshore bite the rest of the day with Carolina rigs and Texas Rigs on points and humps in 15-20 feet with big worms or KO sticks. Deep crankbaits are good over drop offs in 22-27 feet. XD 6 and XD 8 chartreuse and blue back and landing bites. Report by Marc Mitchell, Lake Fork Guide Service. Cooling temperatures, light rain, and cloudy days have kicked the shallow bite into high gear in the middle of July! Bass are hitting topwaters and shallow streamers fished over flooded milfoil and hydrilla. Look for schooling bass in the open water and creeks as shad hatch is in full swing. Also, check out the brush piles as big bass are using them to feed on crappie. Bream are excellent in the shallows, wooly buggers and small poppers should bring a strike. Report by Guide Alex Guthrie, Fly Fish Fork Guide Service. The crappie fishing on Lake Fork continues to be excellent as we get deeper into the summer pattern. Fish are still stacked up on brush, trees and some lay downs. Best depths are 14-28 feet with a few fish a little shallower and a little deeper. The bite has been somewhat finicky lately. Minnows are a good choice to help overcome the slower bite. You can still catch fish on smaller hand tied baits or soft plastics. I've also noticed that rotating spots or finding new spots with less pressured fish has been important. The catfishing on Lake Fork is excellent like it seems to always be for eater sized channel cats. There are still tons of fish under roosting trees in 14-22 feet of water on the north ends of the lake. Bait a hole with cattle cubes or sour grains to get those fish concentrated. Then use any catfish bait of choice to load the boat. Report by Jacky Wiggins, Jacky Wiggins Guide Service.

Crappie are biting 1/32-1/8 ounce jigs or minnows. Black bass are in 3-20 feet of water with white and chartreuse spinnerbaits early in the morning. Switch to a 3-6 foot diver about an hour after sunlight. Then gradually transition to a 12-15 foot diver as the sun rises higher around 10 a.m. Somedays, fish will not react to a reaction bait, such as a crankbait, so you might have to slow down using a Carolina rig or Texas rig to entice a bite. There is still some submerged brush on main points and secondary points that are holding fish, so pitch in and around the submerged brush with senkos or Texas rigs. Any standing timber 10 feet off the bank might hold bass as well as an ambush point. White bass are scattered when the gates are open. You can find pockets of a couple hundred, but they are usually moving quickly. If you get lucky, they will stay under the boat and you can finish your limit with 1 ounce slabs in chartreuse or white or silver. GOOD. Water stained; 83 degrees; 3.58 feet above pool. The bite for all species seems to improve when the water is being generated. This stirs the water, breaking up the thermocline. Catfish are all over the lake in 20 feet of water and in 12 feet of water in the creek channels. White bass are on points in the south end of the lake near the dam. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service. As the lake continues to drop fish are going to be moving to traditional summer locations pending the thermocline depth. Bass are good early morning on shallow main lake points with medium or deep diving crankbaits, and topwaters. Main lake ledges with Carolina rig shaky head and spoons. Brush piles shallower than the thermocline with Texas rigs, jigs or Carolina rigs. The thermocline is actively fluctuating and will continue to do so while lake level changes. The colors have been green pumpkin and motor oil. The baits have varied from creature baits to worms. I would recommend crankbaits in addition to the above such as the XD10 later in the morning. No report for crappie. Catfish reports are good using cut bait and shrimp. Anglers should try those baits using the Santee Cooper rig. This technique allows the bait to suspend from the bottom. Report by Bronte Guns and Tackle Pro Staff. Channel catfish continue to be excellent on roadbeds, old creek channels and throughout the lake on cheese bait, nightcrawlers and fresh cut bait. Report by Captain Michael Peterson, 4 Reel Fun Guide Service.

Stillhouse
SLOW. Water stained; 87 degrees; 2.23 feet above pool. Surface temperature 86-87F. Fishing has been very hit or miss for both white bass and for largemouth bass thanks to the atypical (cool, damp) weather we have and will continue to experience since Thursday, 18 July through to at least Tuesday, 30 July. White bass are very scattered in the lower half of the lake in small schools either on bottom in less than 25', or suspended above the 25' level. Downrigging with #12 Pet Spoons in areas with heavy shad concentrations is yielding so-so results. With a near 100% loss of hydrilla due to May's flooding, largemouth bass are consolidating on the few remaining rock and wood structures, as well as on topographic features. If you catch fish, fish that area thoroughly, as multiple fish are likely be be holding on available cover. Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service.
Tawakoni
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 86 degrees; 0.10 feet below pool. Lake Tawakoni continues to fish good as we make our way through the peak of summer. Water temperatures are staying steady at 86 degrees. The hybrid striper and white bass bite is good. A lot of fish are being caught on the surface early in the morning as they feed on schools of threadfin shad, so slabs and swimbaits are working best in these situations. We are also catching these fish vertically on humps and ledges using the same artificial lures. The eating size catfish bite is still wide open. Fishing over baited holes using prepared bait such as punch bait and dip bait are working best. The best depths have been 18-25 feet. Crappie have been decent on brush piles and bridge pylons in 12-18 feet. Minnows are out fishing jigs currently. The largemouth bass bite has been decent on rooster frogs early in the morning in the pads. Then again in the afternoon and evening the top water bite has been good. Report by Captain Michael Littlejohn, Lake Tawakoni Guide Service.

Report by Jacob Orr, Guaranteed Guide Service Lake Texoma. Stripers are good with slabs fishing under the smaller topwater fish in 30-60 feet of water in the middle of the lake. Some anglers are landing catches with live bait and trolling. Report by John Blasingame, Adventure Texoma Outdoors.
Toledo Bend
GOOD. Water slightly stained; 91 degrees; 1.80 feet below pool. Fishing is slow during the day but great at night. The forecast predicts 4-5 inches by the weekend, and the creeks are running strong. Water temperatures are back down in the high 80s, so when the weather finally settles the bass fishing should improve during the day with all the freshwater. Topwater baits, chatterbaits and spinnerbaits will be good in 1-5 feet around the bay grass and edge of flooded bushes. It will take a few days for the deeper fish to start to bite after all the rising water. Best baits will be mid range crankbaits and Texas rig, worm or baby’s brush hog. The best bite has been at night with catches up to 10 pounds with buzzbaits and spinnerbaits on main lake points then Texas rigs and Carolina rigs out in 10-16 feet. The crappie fishing has been slow but should improve. Best fishing has been deep brush and standing timber 12-18 feet with live bait. Report by Stephen Johnston, Johnston Fishing.
Travis
FAIR. Water stain; 85 degrees; 46.40 feet below pool. Bass are in a consistent summer pattern. Fish are in the marinas but it can be a struggle to catch fish. Start in the marinas in the morning with spoons and small swim jigs in 30 feet of water. Then move to deeper grass on the north end in 20-30 working very slowly with craws, worms, Texas rigs and shaky heads. Continue to downsize baits to match the small 1 inch baitfish the bass are feeding on. Report by Randal Frisbie, Central Texas Fishing Guide, LLC. There is decent bass bite with early morning schooling around deep marinas and coves. Small swimbaits and topwaters with walking the dog technique works well and jigging or flutter spoons deep under the boat slips can catch some good ones. Later work ledges and points in 15-35 feet of water working Texas-rigged soft plastics and jigs. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.

GOOD. Water normal stain; 84 degrees. bass fishing has been good. We caught 79 Friday, 30 Saturday, 40 Sunday. Not sure how all the clouds and rain will affect things, but it should slow the schooling action. It’s been great when sunny. Worms and frogs have been good early in the day and when cloudy. Bream still good, stripers good with not so many keepers. Report by David Townsend, Austin Fishing Guide. Lake Decker is fishing well for bass. There is a bit of schooling action, but usually a bit later in the morning. To start, find some nice thick grass and throw Texas-rigged 4-5 inch straight worms to catch ya some. If you notice any action such as bait fish being chased or jumping. Get a rod with a swimbait on it and start chunking. There are hybrids in this lake, and those can be a blast to catch.
