Official Hawk Watches

There were only three official Hawk Watches in 1998:

Smith Point at Candy Abshire Wildlife Management Area near Anahuac with 59 kites seen (21% of the kites reported to this project that year).
Hazel Bazemore near Corpus Christi with 6 kites seen (2% of the kites reported to this project).
Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge near McAllen conducted a spring survey with 2 kites seen (less than one percent of the kites reported to this project that year).
"Sylvan Beach" (an unofficial hawk watch site, but an important site in La Porte in Harris County reported by Dick Benoit) with 16 kites seen (roughly 6% of the kites reported to this project that year).

There were only three official Hawk Watches in 1999:

Smith Point at Candy Abshire Wildlife Management Area near Anahuac with 54 kites seen (6% of the kites reported to this project that year).
Hazel Bazemore near Corpus Christi with 31 kites seen (3.5% of the kites reported to this project).
Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge near McAllen conducted a spring survey with 2 kites seen (0.2% of the kites reported to this project that year).
"Sylvan Beach" had an unofficial spring survey with 5 kites seen (0.6% of the kites reported to this project that year).
