Planning a Field Trip
Step 1: Plan ahead
- Explore the park website to find helpful information including directions to the park and a map to help you explore. Visiting the park ahead of time and viewing our Group Visit Need-to-Knows page will help you plan your visit.
- Browse our selection of programs or contact us for more information.
- Consider your group age and size. Split large groups into multiple visits. Some programs have limited capacity.
- Request field trips at least one month in advance. Two or more months' notice is recommended. Date flexibility is helpful.
Step 2: Contact the park
Call us at (956) 584-9156 for more information and to schedule your visit.
Be ready to provide:
- A preferred date and a backup, if possible
- The age range and number of students
- Any other information you think may be helpful for us to help plan your trip.
Step 3: Approval
The park may contact you for more information or to discuss options. Your request will then be approved if we can meet your needs. We will notify you of a final decision and to confirm details.
Step 4: You are all set for your visit!
Contact the park with any questions, changes, needs, or cancellations. We recommend sharing details such as itinerary, expectations and park/group rules with all chaperones. We will contact you again just before your trip to confirm arrival details and group numbers.
