Is Texas BOW Retreat the same as Tx Beyond BOW 101?
No, although they are both offered through Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the BOW retreat is a multi-day event with a variety of classes offered and BBOW 101 is a 3-8 hour workshop over one specific topic.
How do I register for a BBOW 101 or BOW Retreat?
Registration opens 4-6 weeks prior to any event, but specific dates are not public in advance. Registration links will be sent in digital newsletters or on Facebook. BBOW 101's are registered through TPWD Hunter Education 101 courses. BOW Retreat payment at time of registration will secure your spot.

Why is my BBOW 101 workshop sending me to a Hunting 101 Registration page?
BBOW 101 is a program offered through TPWD Hunter Education. Courses are registered through TPWD Education Registration System, which allows you access to find more certifications as well as existing certifications like Hunter & Boater Education.
How much are the fees?
BOW Retreat is on average $300-$350, depending on the host facilities. This includes two nights' lodging, meals, instruction and equipment use. A few classes will require an additional fee, but these fees are known upfront during the registration process. BBOW 101's are free or low cost, due at the time of the workshop.
What types of courses are offered?
Courses offered are related to the fields of hunting and shooting, boating/fishing/water-based; and nature and other outdoor recreation related activities.
What am I required to bring?
Depending on whether you are doing a BOW or BBOW 101, but most courses provided all supplies needed. If additional items are needed or you are staying overnight, a suggested packing list will be made available to you.
