Firearm & Hunting 101 Courses
IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS are offered for species prior to hunting seasons, such as dove, turkey, waterfowl or deer. Some workshops such as Hog Hunting 101, exotics and small game may be offered year around. Method workshops such as bowhunting and muzzleloading are available prior to special seasons and some such as target shooting sports, care-of-game and wilderness survival are available throughout the year.
YOUTH HUNTS - Youngsters and their families can sign up for TPWD public draw hunts as well as hunting opportunities through partners like the Texas Wildlife Association (TWA). TWA provides HUNTING 101 experiences through their Texas Youth Hunting Program (TYHP) and Adult Learn to Hunt Program. TYHP is perfect for youngsters age 9 through 17, and parent or guardian, that want to put what they learned in the basic Hunter Education Course (a pre-requisite for TYHP hunts) into practice, on private lands throughout Texas.
