Hunting 101 Courses

  • Examples - SPECIES (Dove, Deer, Turkey, Waterfowl, Upland Game, Hog, Small Game)
  • Examples - METHODS (Rifle, Shotgun, Handgun, Bow Hunting, Muzzle Loaders, Crossbows, Modern Sporting Rifles)
  • Examples - OTHERS (Outdoor Survival/First Aid, Outdoor Cooking, Game Processing, Outdoor Ethics, Wildlife Management)

This is a NEW PROGRAM that is offered by Hunter Education Instructors as advanced hunter education for those that have completed the basic certification course. Since it is new, there will be fewer offerings this first year as the program begins to grow. Some courses may be seasonal such as dove, turkey or deer, but some such as feral hog and 'method-oriented' courses can be held year-round.

Hunting 101 Formats:

  • SEMINARS - 3-4 Hours (half-day) - typically indoors or in stores or as part of conferences or workshops 
  • WORKSHOPS - 7-8 Hours (day)  - typically at a safe range with FIELD and/or LIVE FIRE  EXERCISES
  • HUNTS - More than one day (weekend) - Texas Youth Hunting Program  or MENTOR hunt opportunities held in conjunction with workshops
