Doctors Creek Unit Alerts

Aug. 14, 2026 - The Doctors Creek Unit is under a burn ban. No wood or charcoal fires allowed. You may use containerized fuel stoves (i.e. propane) for cooking only.

South Sulphur Unit Alerts

Aug. 14, 2026 - The fishing wall at Heron Harbor will have limited access beginning Aug. 17 due to the installation of handrails.

July 30, 2026 - Phones are down at the South Sulphur unit. 

Jan. 23, 2025 - The Sunset Cove Day-use Area is closed through summer 2026. Construction is underway on a replacement fishing pier and other upgrades.

Boat Ramp Notice

Sept. 11, 2025 - The Honey Creek boat ramp at the South Sulphur unit is closed due to the low lake level. The boat ramps at South Sulphur in Gulls Bluff, the Tira Satellite boat ramp, and Lone Pine boat ramp at Doctors Creek Unit remain open.

Trail Alert

Trails close to horseback riders after rainfall. Check conditions before you come by calling the park. 

Park Closures

The entire park will be closed on the following dates:

• 10 p.m. Jan. 8 to 8 a.m. Jan. 11

The Coyote Run trail at the South Sulphur unit will be closed (but equestrian trails will remain open):

• 10 p.m. Dec. 4 to 8 a.m. Dec. 21

Only permitted hunters will be allowed on these dates.
