TPWD_0785.JPGJoin the TPWD Explore Bowhunting & Bowfishing Program, part of the Texas Archery Program.  This dynamic, educational event provides individuals of all ages with hands-on experiences in responsible, ethical, and sustainable hunting practices.

In partnership with organizations such as the Outdoor Tomorrow Foundation, Texas Youth Hunt Program, Archery Trade Association, Texas State Parks, Texas Game Wardens, Operation Game Thief, Hunter’s Education, and local community groups, Explore Bowhunting offers:

  • Gear selection techniques
  • Animal anatomy and shot placement
  • Activities on a state-of-the-art archery trailer with interactive games and adaptive ranges
  • Practice on 3D target ranges
  • Animal processing and cooking demonstrations
  • Gear exhibits and conservation discussions

Designed for youth, families, and outdoor enthusiasts, the program promotes safe, ethical archery and bowhunting while emphasizing hunters’ role in wildlife conservation and habitat management.

Facilitated by the TPWD Texas Archery Program, Explore Bowhunting emphasizes a "train-the-trainer" approach – training teachers and community leaders through the National Archery in the Schools Program curriculum, enabling local groups, schools, military veterans, scouts, camps, and parks to set up their own archery ranges and programs.
