Atlantic Cutlassfish
Trichiurus lepturus
Atlantic cutlassfish, or ribbonfish as they're more often called in Texas, have no scales. Instead, their long, tapered bodies are covered with shiny, metallic silver skin. Although common in bays and inshore Gulf waters, cutlassfish aren't popular. They steal bait and won't hesitate to use their sharp, barbed teeth on unwary anglers.
