Atlantic Stingray
Dasyatis sabina
Atlantic stingrays live mostly on the bottom where they feed on worms, crabs, shellfish, shrimp and small fish which they suck into the underside of their heads. Stingrays won't attack you but they may give you a painful sting if you step on them while wading in Texas bays. Shuffle your feet as you move to frighten the rays away and avoid getting stung.
