Accessibility

Many parks have at least some accessible facilities, including restrooms, campsites, trails and visitor centers. We are committed to making our facilities and our information available to as many Texans as possible.

Family swimming at Inks Lakes

Be Safe on the Water!

Summer in Texas means fun in and on the water. We want everyone to come home safely from summer adventures. Whether swimming or boating, always: wear a life jacket, watch children closely, know how to swim and avoid alcohol.

Sunrise View on Morning Hike at Ray Roberts Lake - Johnson Branch

DORBA Trail

Explore the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association Trail at Ray Roberts Lake - Johnson Branch. This 9-mile hike and bike trail travels through cool creek bottoms and up high hills. Start early to take in sunrise across the lake. Watch for wildlife of all sorts, including the ever-elusive bobcat. Most of the trail is easy to moderate, but a few sections are more challenging.

Bat watching at Old Tunnel State Park

Bat-Nado!

TPW Magazine

They built the tunnel for the train. But since the train’s been gone, the tunnel has served a new purpose: a perfect roosting place for millions of bats. Old Tunnel State Park (near Fredericksburg) houses to up to 3 million Mexican free-tailed and 3,000 cave myotis bats during the warmest half of the year.
