River Romp

Join a ranger on a walking Track Talk. We will hike a 1-mile round trip trail as we explore some of the different trackways in the Paluxy River. There is a chance to get into 1-2 ft of water and walk with the dinosaurs mid hike if the river levels are appropriate.

Join a ranger to explore one of our dinosaur trackways in the Paluxy River. We will be walking in the water to experience the parks’ history. Water levels will be around 1-2 feet deep.

Insect Extravaganza & UV Night Hike

Dinosaur Valley State Park
Observe the diverse insects found right here at Dinosaur Valley under UV light! Dinosaur Valley is home to a diverse group of insects, many of which are active at night! Stop by to examine our insect populations. Visitors are encouraged to take pictures of the bugs they see and contribute observations to iNaturalist. Stay the whole evening or stop by at different times. We will see more insect diversity the later it gets! Also join a ranger for a hike as we use UV blacklights to see the park in different colors. See plants turn red, our rocks turn orange and maybe see a scorpion glow green.
