Fish Records and Awards

Angler Recognition ProgramTexas Parks and Wildlife Department recognizes fishing excellence through the Angler Recognition Program. The program maintains state record lists for public and private waters and water body records for all public lakes, rivers, and bays. Junior Anglers (under 17 years of age) compete in a separate division. The program issues certificates for serval types of angler achievements.

Starting June 1, 2021, the State Record Other Methods award category is undergoing a transition to be replaced by a State Record All-Tackle award category (largest fish by species caught by any legal means). Any application received after June 1 will now be considered for the State Record All-Tackle category, if applicable. No previous records for the State Record Other Methods category will be revoked. However, once the transition is completed, the listing for State Records Other Methods category will no longer be displayed.

Special Notice: Angler Recognition Award processing has resumed, processing awards in the order they were received. April 2021 submissions are in process as of July 19, 2021.
