Start your day off right by connecting with nature and fellow bird enthusiasts! Join us for a relaxing bird walk where we will sip on coffee and enjoy the sights and sounds of our feathered friends.
Christmas in the Park 2024
It's the most wonderful time of the year! For camping, making holiday memories and inviting everyone to see homes on wheels decked out for Christmas. Decorate your campsite for this weekend and you will save 20%. Donations of non perishable food items are also being collected. Voting slips will be handed to all that come to see the festive campers during the event timeline.
Feathered Friends: Virtual Bird Hike
Join us for a self-guided hike on the Two Bridges Trail. How does a virtual bird hike work? As you walk the trail, you will find bird pictures with a QR Code for you to scan. The scan will then bring up a short informational video about the bird.
Let's Stargaze in the Park
Enjoy an evening in the park as you explore the galaxy by star maps, laser pointers and telescope. Retired national park ranger/astronomer Larry Smith will guide you through the planets, moon and stars with fascinating facts.

Turkeys Are on the Trail!
The rafter or flock of turkeys are hiding on our Two Bridges Trail. Feel free to walk, wobble or strut your way along this one-mile trail to find those gobblers. They will have a secret message for you to tell the office team to claim a prize.
Haunted Hollows Hike
The Towash Forest Trail may be an easy 1-mile to walk, but you never know what you may encounter in these hollows!
Let's try Geocaching
What is Geocaching? It is the ultimate treasure hunt! This outdoor adventure has participants use the Geocaching app and/or a GPS device to navigate to cleverly hidden containers called geocaches. There are millions of geocaches in 190 countries waiting to be discovered—there are some near you right now. Let's start this treasure hunt!
Ghouls Night Out at Lake Whitney
The Horseshoe Loop will be our Trick or Treat Trail from 5 pm to 7 pm. COSTUME CONTEST from 4:30 to 5:30 judging for best adult, child and pet! Participating campsites will get a 20% discount and provide fun for the visiting ghouls and goblins looking for eeks and treats at these campsites.
"All Things GREEN" Alphabet Hunt
It's always fun to explore Lake Whitney State Park, add the challenge of looking for anything green but it must correspond to the letters of the alphabet to celebrate earth day month. It's an exciting way to connect with nature and learn about the environment while hunting for GREEN treasures!
Texas Bioblitz Pollinator BINGO!
Did you know Oct 11-27, 2024, is Texas Pollinator BioBlitz Month What is that? It is a variety of events in TX focused on surveying and documenting various pollinator species. Participants observe different types of pollinators—such as bees, butterflies, birds, and bats. Lake Whitney State Park has created a Pollinator BINGO - FACEBOOK challenge for you to find pollinators wherever you may be! This session gives you 9 days to get your Bingo card completed by taking pictures of the pollinators you find.
First Day Reflections of 2024 and Nature Hike
